I'm so excited!

Hi everyone!

I know you don't really know me yet, since I'm brand new but I just had to post this here, since I know you guys'll know how I feel.

I practically had to twist my hubby's arm last night to get him to say ok to 3 chicks instead of 2. Well, the guys he works with (new job) apparently are all farmers also, and all by themselves they talked hubby into saying yes to 12!!!! WOOHOO!! AND rather than building a coop, one of them is giving us one (not sure how it'll be, but we can always recycle the materials to seriously cut costs), and a brooder box complete with light! I CAN'T WAIT! PLUS they said he HAS to have at least one rooster (previously vetoed), and that they would take any surplus off our hands if we end up with too many!!

Cracks me up, I was just reading all of your amazing posts about incubating eggs (way too advanced for me, but something I'd love to do) and wishing I could try it sometime, but knowing we won't have the space for so many. Prob solved!!

Welcome to chickenmania! I get mine in 6 wks or so. I can't wait either. I'll be doing all my prep work and such til they arrive. Good Luck and have fun!

Welcome and congratulations on the chix! I know you will enjoy it here and all of your new chickens! I had to wait almost 10 years before the city finally approved chickens in my area. I am on 3 acres in a neighborhood surrounded by homes of 1 acre lots. Yippy! I can have 10 chickens per acre... no roosters, though. I have 17 lovely ladies and that is an amount that works well for me!

I am a little envious. How generous of them to offer to help get you started with a coop and brooder. Someone needs to send the Hubby to work with a few treats for them (cookies are always good)

Good job on getting DH to agree to chickens. I got mine without the approval of mine and I'm still getting grief almost 4 years later...sigh....

Funny, isn't it, when WE as women come up with an idea which is totally idiotic, BUT when a MAN suggest the same exact idea, it's a GREAT one?? God love 'em. Congrat's on the additions to the plan, no matter how it came about!

And these farmers have invited dh to bring us all to their farms, so we'll see what happens!

And yes, men are funny about stuff... really. (No offense to anybody on here of course!!). My hubby can be a little old fashioned, and sometimes I think he just doesn't completely trust my opinion

. Ah, well, they turned him around, so it all worked out ok!
