Yes, you know what this thread is about..How about if we just make it a sticky, and we can all vent about how we are waiting for our girls to lay! Half of mine have the red wattles and comb, yellow-er legs, and I keep checking...nothing...once daily, I walk around the yard just to see if they are hiding anything from me...nothin! They are just about 20 week old RIR's...
Also, do the young ones start to lay a tad earlier if they are around one that already is laying??? Sort of like women and phermones..We pick up on them, and pretty soon, you have a room full of women all pms'ing at the same time...

I'm waiting, too. I was so impatient that I bought 3 laying hens, hoping they would encourage the others! So now I have 3 laying hens, going strong, and yet my girls that I raised from chicks won't lay. I swear they truly believe they are my children and not hens with a job to do!

It's very disheartening to put all the time and feed into them, and have nothing..I know it will happen, but I just cant stand the wait part!

Its by far the worst part of raising chickens.. Knowing that the eggs are due anytime now ..but it seems to take forever,

Im now at the stage where i want them to slow down a bit .. I cant eat the amount of eggs they lay, I give loads aways but the pile never seems to go down

I have some Barred Rock cross, 3 to be exact, that I hatched out last September. I have yet to see an egg from these three clowns. I am thinking that they are a bunch of free-loaders!

Well, I guess I complained a little to soon, just got back from the coop, and low and behold, AN EGG! A beautiful grey-green egg! (I am keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of you)

hahahaa..That's too cool! I want to supply my sis with eggs too as she's expecting another baby, but right now, she's having to get them elsewhere. We also have two nuns that teach our kids, and with my other round of chickens, I gave them eggs once a week too..Those chickens were lost to a fox...
