So one of my chicks who is a little over a month old has stopped eating and drinking. Not only that but he just seems so much weaker. If he is put on his side he struggles to get back on his feet. He is also really hunched and his wings almost scrape the ground. He also does this thing where he wretches as though he's going to throw up but nothing comes out. He's also very quiet. I'm so worried, please HELP!

Maybe your chick is a runt? The runts are always the smallest and are weaker. Is he being raised with other chicks? If not, you may want to put another chick in with him to teach him how to eat and drink.

Try to blend some bread and water and inject it inside of its mouth. This should feed it and possibly get better. Sorry about your chick though.

He's with three other chicks. The rest eat fine, he was eating and drinking great last night but today he's just been in a slump. He's never done this before.

It's very hard to open his mouth. I've tried giving him water but he just ends up sort of throwing it up. Drop by drop. He's also so silent.

Have you tried dipping his beak in water then in the food? Try this every 15 minutes for one hour.

Are you feeding them anything other then chick feed? Any grass or other long greens?
Do they have chick grit?
How does his crop feel?

I've given them a little bit of coriander and some plain yoghurt as a treat and oats and some crushed barley. We don't have any grit currently.
