I'm taking the plunge, check these guys out!

I would like a small pen of white egg layers. I just can't get around the look of the white leghorns... look too... commercial even in a backyard setting. These would ease my eyeballs a little and hopefully still get me some decent size, decent ammount of white eggs. Please add me to your list if you are keeping one. After you have them and they get into full production, let us know about the egg size and how well they lay... You could cause me another variety here... youuuuu!!!

I plan to spread the gene pool should they lay eggs. Leghorn breeders do breed for that long tail though not all males end up growing it. These will be SQ/EQ birds that I am buying. I'm with you on the white birds, I wanted a white egg layer not bird.

Does he look somewhat like this guy? He's a Buff Minorca which looks nearly identical to Buff Leghorns. We have both and often do cross the 2 to get bigger eggs..Buff Leghorns lay small eggs compared to most of the other colors...average around 55 grams.Picture was taken on a very cold and windy day so it's not his best by far but it's one I had uploaded already(lazy I know when he has better pics)
Edited to add we have leghorns in nearly every color and even Mille Fleur they don't need to come in only white..but those do lay the largest of all the colors.
