I'm turning my shed into a coop- FINISHED PICS pg. 4

The floor is 3/4 plywood but I plan on coating it with a liquid rubber called Sani-tred. I thought about linoleum but this seemed much easier...just roll it on.

The nursery/brooder will be (if you're facing the shed) on the right hand side of the inside of the door. I plan on having 2 of those, 1 on top of the other. I have a BBW turkey that weighs about 30 lbs. and she can't climb real easy so her nestbox (doghouse) is at floor level. I planned on constructing the brooder on top of that to also include a run (with a ladder) down to the general population-of course fenced in for babies sake!

I haven't decided whether to get an incubator and hatch out yet or not. I think I've got my plate pretty full with this shed renovation. Plus I have 50 meaties planning to take up residence here (not the shed

wow cool! never heard of that coating, i'll have to google it!

what is the roosting solution? Ladders? I'm putting one in the new teenagers coop I'm building (fyi finished the 6 nest boxes today for it) Don't you love this?

I absolutely love it!!

My current roosting is all at the same level made out of 2x4's. Hubby thinks I should build a roost in tiers...I'm not so sure...haven't decided. They all get along so well-noone is fighting to be on the top roost--EVER because They are all on the highest roost.

Who woulda thought this change would cause so many questions

Although the ladder roost would take up less space. I feel like this

most of the time trying to remember where the wiring is going to go and not insulate there, remembering doors, planning vents, AAAAAAHHHHH!

Let's have a drink!

That looks just great! I love the windows you used. I really wish we would have done the same.

I would go with a trim that kind of matches the door. I can't tell from the picture if it is true white but a nice off-white would look great. NOT with a yellow tint. I think that would really accent the coolness of it! GOod good job. I love tools too, but don't think I know how to use them as well as you!

Okay, I think I'm pretty much done

except for a front panel inside I'm procrastinating on doing due to electrical outlets and cutouts...ugh...I also bought a 12x48x6 chain link dog kennel that I'm going to convert into a 12 x24 with the remaining panels as a roof and make a completely predator proof run out the back door-but I have to get the kennel up before I install the door I plan on using. So when you see the back door, that is why I haven't finished it. My husband ran the electricity for me but my planning of how few and where to put them hasn't worked out so well...I may have to have him install some more for me. I have a 3 level brooder that is 4 foot wide by 2.5 deep by 2 high each section, so there's plenty of room for growing babies, plus also the bottom and middle section of the brooders have a removable panel in the center so they can go up and down if they want. There's plenty of storage in the entry way but space sure got small once I started installing the nestboxes and roosts....so some things in my original drawing were modified.

I just installed 2 sections at the peaks of the front and back for ventilation as well.

ok...i havent even read from beginning to end....just looked @ the pics.....I LUV IT....ITS AWESOME....pretty similar to what i was explaining to my dh that i wanted...lol
now hes got an even better idea and he likes it too...so....now i have to go back to the beginning and read everything and learn the nitty-gritty...lol

that door in the back that you cut out of the siding... did you put some trim or brace boards on it? If you don't have some support for that siding, it will warp and possibly let the elements and unwanted guests into your coop.
