I'm wanting to get ringneck pheasants I need to know some things!!!

I'm wanting to order some ringneck pheasant chicks this spring and raise them and release most but keep a few and I'm wanting to know about housing/pens/food/water..and I know about the pheasant thread and I know a lot and pretty much everything about raising them cause I read a lot and I have chickens but I'm wanting to know things from a experienced person thats raised ringnecks...and before you release them should you cut down on water or food about a week or so to get them use to not having that huge amount all the time? and just really little tips and things I should know it would really help me out thanks!!!!!

I have never raised a ring-necked pheasant, but I can tell you that there is a very low survival rate for domestically raised birds released to survive in the wild.

I raise many pheasants for release. You need to make sure with your DOW that you can release the pheasants before you do. Depending on where you live you may need a permit.
No you don't need to stop the food or water if you do they may not want to leave. And depending on the type of wild animals you have around some wont make it because right after you release them they kinda go into shock. You also want to make sure you don't spend alot of time with them because they will get used to always having a human provide for them and not forage for themselves.
You will also need a very lg area for them to fly in so their wings can build enough muscle to fly.

Thanks a lot, I live in Ohio and we have the normal predators/animals coons,possums,fox,coyote,hawks,owls,weasels,snakes,rabbits,deer,turkey,weasel,mice,rats,chipmunk,skunks,groundhog,and many other wildlife and I live in the country and have woods and a gravil pit in the woods so I was thinking about releasing them in the gravil pit cause theres one sandhill and its open and is grassy and is NOT excavated and its all surrounded by woods but theres a lot of honey suckle,sumac,grasses,logs,and in the middle if the open area is a big area of bushes,junk,and trees and theres a lot of rabbits in there and theres a lot of vines so I'm thinking that would be good nesting area and winter cover and actually my dad shot a grouse that his dog scared out of there a few years ago and no one released it so obviously game birds are already there but we havent seen any more in a long time and he only seen like 4 grouse,and its real sandy of course and in the summer its full of flying grasshoppers,northern fence lizards and theres 2 huge ant hills and there always building medium ones and theres a lot of bugs back there so they should have plenty of food and cover and the only thing is I'll have to build a bigger pen for the pheasants
