Through my incubation, Ive candled my egg and ive reconized in the begining, the light from my flashlight could barly go through the egg, (the egg is a cream color) well im on day 17, soon 18 and im worried that the shell , might be really thick when it tries to hatch near day 21. Uhhhh I sure hope he'll be ok

do you think it will be ok?

I'm pretty sure it will be just fine. You might think the shell is thicker but, it isn't. try using a brighter light.
My Araucana eggs wouldn't candle at all and they have all pipped today. Two are already hatched.
This is day 19.

It sounds like you've candled more than a couple of times. Need to be careful ... twice should be sufficient.

Make sure the humidity is correct in the bator. And just watch when it's hatching time. Pips, etc. Don't help unless you really really need to.

Maybe someone else has more info and help.

I'm sure if you've incubated it correctly it'll almost definitely be fine. Please try to relax and leave it alone to do it's thing. You're not even in lockdown yet and it sounds like already you're looking for reasons to intervene. I know the feeling well as that's what I was like all through my first couple of hatches. You really have to just step back and try to be calm.

im in lockdown, I was not planning do anything about the egg in just being a worry wort. and I dont know I guess its not going as smoothly as I was hoping, I stayed up all night it my "crazy temps" and now im just going crazy! but ill try to calm down

Why should you only candle 2 times? I've candled mine 3 times b/c I just couldn't tell what was going on. (I new at this)

You can candle as often as you want, but each time you do it, you are taking a risk with the embryo. By picking the egg up and moving it about and touching it, you are disturbing the contents and increasing the risk of introducing bacteria. It's a very small risk, but it's there. But by not candling at all you are risking a rotten egg exploding over the goood oness and ruining your hatch. Again, a small risk. I've never had an exploding egg, thank goodness. For minimal handling but rotten egg prevention most people would candle twice. First at day 6-10 to check fertility and remove infertile eggs and ones with blood rings. Then secondly just before lockdown, to remove any that were obvious early quitters.
