You need to keep them apart from your chickens. They eat game bird feed, which costs more than chicken feed, but they don't eat anywhere near as much as chickens. I can send you pics of my new quail duplex as I built it if you send me your email addy
I love my coturnix, the main problem is when I open the door, they all want to see me and run to the front! I lost one that flew away, so now if the get out and I catch them, I trim one wing so they can't fly far. They come in a bunch of cool colors and make neat hooting sounds but quieter than rooster crowing, which is good . Get some eggs and hatch 'em! The babies are amazingly small and cute!
