No just put coconut oil on it so it looks like that.

I can see the membrane. There is a lot of heavy veins there. Keep it moist and the humidity up. You may have had a cool spot or temps might have been running slightly low. That would delay your hatch.

There's 2 membranes, a thicker one next to the shell and the thin membrane that envelops the yolk. If the thick membrane was there, you wouldn't be able to see the chick.

No, wrapping it in a damp paper towel will only chill the chick.
I've never had this happen before so I really don't know what to cover the opening with...I'm thinking maybe a piece of Saran Wrap just big enough to cover the opening. Otherwise bacteria is going to get in and it will dry up being exposed like it is to the air.

I put more coconut oil on it, then put some Saran wrap on the open spot.

I’m going to let it stay in there over night and hopefully wake up to something.
