I'm stumped folks? I have a 2 year old gold-lace wyandotte hen. Posted about her a few days ago. I though she had an impacted crop, someone suggested pendulous crop. Either way I isolated her for 3 days. Day one no food, just water. She drinks like a fish. no surprise if she is impacted. Had her vomit twice to just get out anything that was stuck. Kinda had a smell, but nothing like sour crop. Perhaps it was just starting in her. Day two, crop had gone down in size, she can move the water through her system, but there have been no solid poops. And there was still food in her crop from before I isolated her. Let her take a big drink before work and then left her with no food or water for the day. Came home and her crop was empty!!! I was in shock. Yay, so I gave her some yogurt and some scrambled eggs and olive oil. Not much. She kinda ate it, I don't think she really likes the yogurt. But the next morning, day 3, same thing. Liquid gone, but food remained. Felt like play-doh. So I don't know what to think. I ended up putting her back in the coop for now. She was getting stur crazy. She has lost weight. Her keel is fairly pronounced. She was my fattest biggest girl, so this has been happening over a few weeks, but just really noticed it this week. But she is preening, dust bathing, free ranging, energy level seems normal despite weight loss and not getting as much nutrition.

So I need advice. Culling may be the only option left at this point. I don't want her to continue to starve. But I'd love to hear other thought to try first. Should I try making a crop bra? Like I said it seems super weird that ALL the liquid goes through her, but not the solids. And that it was Able to finally totally empty the other day. Thank you!

Sounds like you have a slow crop and possibly an impaction/blockage somewhere. You can try giving dulcolax or colace (no stimulant/stool softener) or an Epsom salt flush to see if you can get it moving. But make sure she is taking lots if fluids as these can be dehydrating which could make things worse. I had a bird last year with sounds like nearly identical symptoms. Tried everything and she just kept losing weight and had slow, doughy crop and sour crop repeatedly. I ended up culling her and did my own necropsy and found a very small and deformed gizzard, so likely congenital in her case, and it just quit working. She was perfectly normal in every other way, a large bird, and probably miraculous that she lived 2 years. But there are many possibilities for what is going on including worms, ate something she shouldn't have, disease or infection. Sometimes impactions will show up on X-ray depending on what it is and where it is, if that is an option. Sometimes things that get past the crop can get stopped in the gizzard. It's hard to decide in these cases when to stop trying because the bird seems fine otherwise. I wish you the best.
