Impatient!!

I hate to be so impatient, but I AM!!!!! My chicks are 14 weeks old & I am just ready for eggs!! And it’s going to be winter soon, so I have a feeling I won’t be getting too many, I love them for their company and all, but I am just so excited to have eggs lol

The wait is the absolute worst, but it is so worth it. Mine are over 22 weeks but only 2/6 are laying so still experiencing a bit of the torture

Haha Logar and I have bonded over this exact same issue. Mine are over 22 weeks and not a single egg. I'm also very impatient and the wait is driving me crazy!

You might get some October eggs or March eggs. Just wait

I started getting eggs in late Feb. Since they are only 14 weeks you might start getting eggs in Feb or March.

I was at that point last week!

I purchased my first 5 hens in early 2023. Bielefelders, they waited a long time before laying, it was over 6 months, but I did not do all that I could to facilitate (too many treats, not enough protein, should have let them range earlier and more often). Plus awful summers (Arkansas) that we worried about survival.

They all eventually laid eggs.

Now I have 50 chickens or so, 10 ducks, and I dont worry too much about if or when. I have been much better about encouraging the newer ladies to lay by the 6 month mark (if not sooner). Now it is more trying to get all the eggs because the nesting boxes are the least likely place to find eggs around here.

I did strongly ask my wife and her trickster family if the first egg or two from the OG ladies were planted there to mess with me. By the 3rd egg i allowed myself to start believing their denials, after 30 eggs I was not sure but dropped it.
94% sure my hens are laying and that yours will as well, or at the very least a trickster will step up their game and you will get some eggs.

I don't think there's much you can do to influence when a chicken ovulates. It all has to do with when her hormones kick in, which will happen when her pituitary gland gives her body the green light.
