Imperial Pheasants

From what I read, this breed was produced by cross breeding. All but one male bird was known to be alive and he was crossed to a silver hen which produced every resemblance to the original species. These are words from Keith Howmans Pheasants of the World book.

I guess that means they aren't available? I wonder if there are any other blue pheasants.

What the h----, are them Eared pheasants doing on wire?
That's worse than having them in a 4 X 8 pen.

That is an off ground pen used for growing young birds.I leave it open when not in use and they hang around in there most of the time. They do have access to the ground also.

it has now been determined that "imperial pheasants" are actually a naturally occuring hybrid between an edwards and annamese silvers

Are Imperial Pheasants available in the US? If so, where! They are stunning!

Back in the fall of 1991, I purchased a male Imperial Pheasant that what was most likely a hybrid male from the Woods and Waters Exotics Auction. At the time I thought it was a pure breed. At that time though I didn't have reliable information on the species. I of course was never able to find a mate for him. Two years later, I sold him to a member of The Michigan Bird & Game Assoc. (I can no longer remember the name of the person.) However there is a chance if you contact the organization, you might find a member that is raising hybrids.
