Importing Eggs

Have any of you imported eggs from Europe? Was it hard and costly.

However I have three friends that did, a SSHB breeder in OR, a Welsummer Bantam breeder in TX and a Faverolle breeder in OH, it cost ALOT of money, alot of red tape and it is not hard to import eggs but the airport security are fickle about that and would have to xray the eggs OR have you unwrap the eggs, and they would have to manually inspect them. You would need paperwork of the flock, vet papers and US government papers, quarantine, etc.

Estimated after it is done and overwith, it cost roughly $1500 per doz of eggs. Your hatch rate, will be somewhere at five chicks at the most if you are lucky.
