Impossible to Buy A Hen!

Excellent ideas! Thank you! Craigslist had several listings. I'm in Erie, PA. Hopefully Criagslist will pan out. I'll just keep looking!

I have four hens I have been looking for a home for and they are all point of lay and having trouble finding a home for all of them for 35.00 Refuse to go lower. I will keep them if I can't get at least 35.00.

I bet if you called your local Ag. dept, they would know someone who had chickens.. Craigs list is a great idea.

I will be looking for POL hens in the fall and have already put my order in w/ the breeders because it seems so hard to find young hens for sale at any price! I told one lady (who had the breed/color I want, her prices were too low. I was willing to pay more because I didn't want to pay shipping and I really wanted to deal with a local breeder.. She must have thought I was a crazy lady... but hey.. I am a crazy chicken lady!!!

I hope you find a companion for your hen soon - thank you for trying to help her. I have been there and every day is an eternity. Try a drop of Rescue Remedy in her water - it is used for its calming effect. It's a Bach Flower remedy available in pretty much any health food store.

I got all of my hens & roosters from craigslist.

3 black sex links
2 RIR
2 Cuckoo Marans
2 Ameraucanas

Do searches under the for sale section for pulletts, hens, pullet, hen, RIR or whatever breed you're looking for.

I also put ads up saying "*** Looking For Hens & Roosters*** or I Need A FREE Rooster"

Shouldn't take too long before you have too many to choose from.

If you are close to me, I have a few to re-home but haven't gotten around to it yet. They are RIR and BSL just under 1 year old and spoiled. Need to make space for the new arrivals

My local feed and seed has them all the time. Do you have any of those around?

Side Note:

Too bad you don't live near Oviedo, Florida. Dozens of them roam the streets there. I counted 27 once and I am sure I didn't get them all. Most of them hang out in the yard of Popeyes Chicken. Seriously.

Scroll down to "Chickens." I live just outside this little town and shop there all the time.

I can ask a few others in this area if you don't mind driving down here.
