I’ve ALWAYS read online and heard from chicken “experts” that polish are extremely hard to sex. Some even say it’s near impossible. Now, I’ve only gotten into chicken this past year. I am nowhere NEAR an expert by any means. I still learn something new every day. As with many chicken hobbyists, I HAD to have a polish in my flock. Not only did I want a polish, I needed a frizzle! I was hanging out with my four 3 week old hatchlets the other day when I noticed ONE of the four looked like he had horns. I googled it and found nothing. I examined every chick very closely and there is NOTHING above the other chicks beak, just the “horns” on the one. Could this be a sure fire way to tell if it’s a rooster? If I had a rooster with 3 hens I’d feel like a lucky gal
I’m attaching a photo where you can CLEARLY see the difference. The top is the suspected hen and the bottom is my little guy with horns
And yes, they perch on me and give me that look everyday! I love them.
