imprinting, again

To have a duckling imprint on me do I have to hatch it myself?
Or can i get, say, ducks a few days old?
or is it already done then?

Your best bet would be to hatch them out yourself if you want them to imprint on you.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of imprinting? How does one do it? Do I stare at them for a certain amount of time right after hatching or handle them for a certain amount of time? Are they imprinted to the first thing they see?

You will want to be the first thing they see and make sure to spend lots of time with them at first. The benefit is you'll have much more tame ducks which is a plus for many people. However any time a bird has imprinted on me they usually have trouble socializing with other birds.
