Improving my feeders.

Been having trouble with 2 different types of feeders. My hanging feeders (not pictured) were making it too easy for chickens to waste feed. I know not all hanging feeders have this problem but mine did. I also have these long red feeders (pictured below) where chickens were not able to waste feed but they pooped in them too often which lead to wasted feed. So I created these wooden shells that keeps chickens from pooping in the feeder and these feeders limit spillage. very easy to make using 2x6 Lumber and a 2x2 piece in the middle to keep chicks from climbing in there.

I forgot to mention, they increase space in the brooder when chicks get old enough to fly up on top of them. Thats about time your perfectly sized brooder starts to get small as the chicks get large but not large enough to go out to the coop. I have had one of these for about 2 years now and used it in the brooder. Now I am using them in my coops raised up a bit for full sized chickens.
