Improving self blue feathering in OEGB?

I've read and seen that the self blue coloring tends to come with feathering quality issues. Is there a way to improve them? Either through supplements or perhaps crossbreeding?

Frankly I don't know. I've seen outcrossing work and I've seen it not work. I'm not sure about the mechanics of lavender feather quality and there is no solid evidence on it.

The gene "wing patch" is thought to be linked to lavender and is supposed to be what causes the feather quality issues.

I've seen breeders have just about perfect self blue feathering in their stock.
