Hi there Everyone,
Things have been so busy around here, but finally have time to set some goals. One of them is to change the lighting in my coop. I’d like to install s timer so that the light goes on earlier, At the moment there are no windows in the coop:( But thats also going to change.
What kind of bulb is optimum, and where would I place it in the coop? The electrician is coming to install a grounded plug today. I’m going into town to look for a light and timer. Any help or ideas that work would be very appreciated. :thumbsup

Why no windows?
What is the purpose of the timer, better laying?

I use a simple household timer for laying lights.
It was an existing shed, and Honestly I didn’t know any better. I’d like a timer to turn the lights on earlier than I can get outside. I look after my elderly mother in law, so when she is settled for the morning then I can go outside.

I am also using a household timer for laying lights, however I am kind of dissapointed by it, and I would really like to change it to a timer as well. I hope that it would be way better. So, what kind of bulb are you using?! I cannot decide myself, as there are so many great ones on the internet, with some amazing reviews, that I do not have any kind of ideas which one should I actually choose. I need to choose one faster as I have already called for a Level 2 Electrician Chatswood so he would actually do all the work.

I had an electrician install a plug, then. I tried to use a regular heat lamp with a 60 watt in it, but the digital timer I bought is hard to program, I’m FRustrated with it but still trying , thank god it’s light early now here...

I use a 4 foot led shop light in my coop. Picked it up at walmart for like $15. It however is not water proof and if your coop leaks any it will not work. My timer is a simple outdoor unit that walmart sells for outside christmas lights. Use the same cheap timer for my water heater in the winter and the led light. The timer is the cheap one with a round dial that you push the button down for on and pull it back up if you want it off. Not a huge fan of the fancy digital ones. I like the KISS method.

Timer I use (mine is an older version but like this)

I'm an electrican so I don't have to worry about that.
