It's been a little while before I could get back on here, so much to do and so little time ... but just a quick update: My little quail is now 3 weeks old, has grown a lot of feathers and lost a lot of baby down, and is getting "leggy". I've named it Coco, a name that will go for either a male or a female when I know eventually which it is!
Yesterday, Coco graduated to a new habitat, a 3-ft long clear Sterilite tub. I put a rectangle of hardware cloth on one side and fitted some mesh to a rectangle in the lid to hopefully help protect against head strikes if Coco tries to suddenly fly up.
For those who asked for pictures .... here is Coco a couple days after being rescued, the Tablespoon is to show size of the bird.
And here is Coco yesterday, at 3 weeks, you can compare with the size of bird to open end of cardboard tube ... Coco can't run through it anymore!
