In Hindsight, One Thing You Would Have Added To Coop Design

i would have built it with the people door outside the enclosed run.
i'm very happy i went with the outside nest boxes. i would have liked to cover the entire run with hardware cloth but could not justify the cost. i used kennel panels because i had them but i think a stick built structure would have looked better and had cleaner corners and wire attachment options.

It is 12 x 17, that is just over 200 sq. ft. It used to be my goat barn so it is divided into two sections. My remodel is only partly done so I am just using about 2/3 of it now. I also have another coop that is 8 x 6, enough for 12 chickens if I go the maximum.

A friend of mine has scored a free storage shed that he is going to deliver to me in a couple of weeks. I think it is about 8 x 10. Do I dare have a 3rd coop? And where will I put it? And how will I explain more room for chickens to my DH?

As well as the window and chicken door.

WOW!!! I thought I was the only one that could never have enough room in a coop. I told my wife that I"m going to convert a old aircraft carrier!

"we don't want pickled eggs!"

Who couldn't love pickled eggs?

We love pickled eggs! They are as southern as boiled peanuts!
If you want to try them here the rec.

3 c. white vinegar
1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. pickling spice
3 tsp. salt
1 bay leaf
16 oz. jar Hot chili peppers
18 shelled hard boiled eggs

Cook first 5 ingredients in medium saucepan over high heat until sugar completely dissolves. Add juice and a few peppers. Put eggs in a 2 quart jar and cover with pickling mixture and store 1 to 2 days in refrigerator before serving.

ColoradoMike, I actually built a beer holder right next to the door going into the run!!!

My wife told me I was an IDIOT... I like to think of myself as pretty darn smart
