in need of some advise please

I want to add another chicken to my flock of one but I am not sure how to go about it . I have a 6 month old hen now we have had her since she was a chick so she has always had the run of the place. Please if anyone could give me some advise on how to introduce a new hen that would be great.

I usually place the new chicken in a wire cage in the coop for a few days so the flock can get used to seeing her yet now injure her. Then let her out and keep an eye on her to see how they interact. After a few days they blend in just fine. good luck!

Do u think its a good idea to get one the same age as her or younger

I would try and get one as close to her age as possible, if you get one too young, your current hen may really beat up on the new one! Of course it is always best to quarantine new chickens for at least a month to be sure they don't have something they could spread but just aren't showing signs of.
