Hello my fellow chicken owners. I'm in need of some coop and run inspiration. I currently have 5 chickens and will be getting 5 more this spring. Before the new ones arrive in May, I will be building a new coop and run for my current flock and then will add the new group when they are of age and meet and greets go well. What I currently have was bought from a store and honestly was a big waste of $$$$$! I chicken wired the whole bottom using zip ties to secure it. Over time I've had to go around and zip tie all the wire because the staples were coming undone. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy a already built coop again lol. Anyway, I would love to see all your DYI coops and runs and maybe if you want to share the price you paid to make it when it was all said and done.

Thanks Friends :D

Put your location in your profile so we know what kind of weather you have.

For a lower cost coop/run a hoop coop made with cattle panels is a good option.

For a quick structure a portable building can be converted to a coop then add the run to it.

For colder areas a woods coop is a good choice.

I'm pretty happy with my run except I should have made it a bit taller with large overhangs.

I would never build a coop like the one behind the run again, they are just a pain to work on.

Here is a progress photo from my camera inside the new coop.
