Hi everybody. I'm looking for chicks or young pullets. I want buff orpingtons, silver laced wyandottes, golden laced wyandottes, black australorps, & barred rocks. I am in Central Illinois; 35 miles west of Terre Haute, bout 100 miles (roughly) north east of St Louis. Does anyone know of a hatchery, or chicken breeder within a reasonable driving distance of me?
Thanks for any leads

It's early in the year for most hatcheries, but I do like Cackle, which is not an unreasonable distance for you. They ship very well, in my experience.
My order is coming in early April, when the weather should be better.

Hello Chrissy,
I'm Tara at BluRooFarmOH. We breed Black, Blue and Splash Australorps. We will be hatching our Australorp chicks within the next 2 months. We live approx. 2.5 hours from Indianapolis. (I graduated from Indiana State Uni.) I would be willing to drive to help out with logistics, for a good size order of chicks. (or if you have a friend halfway that helps us facilitate?) Just let me know this interests you.

Thank you BooRoo. Yea I might be interested. How large an order would I need to make? I live in town & am kinda limited on space, therefore, flock size,

I looked at pics of the blue, black, & splash orpingtons online. They are very pretty birds! Are they known for having a gentle, docile nature & laying brown eggs like other orpingtons? My husband says Indy is about a half-way point between us. Please let me know how many I would need to purchase to do this deal, price, & other particulars
