Trying to find some Embden goslings right outside of Charlotte NC on the NC/SC state line. Anyone selling them anywhere near here? I had a lady going to selling me one of hers but she decided to keep them all.

Not a gosling... but http://www.birdsnow.com/goosenorthcarolina.htmTrying to find some Embden goslings right outside of Charlotte NC on the NC/SC state line. Anyone selling them anywhere near here? I had a lady going to selling me one of hers but she decided to keep them all.
I beg to differ. 2 ganders would become buds, a gander and a goose well that's where ganders start acting up. Your goose is most likely acting up because you hand raised it and he/she doesn't respect you as leader. Lots of good info on here on how to work through that.Oh thank you, I came across this. The only problem is that its a male, and I have to get a female. I think mines a boy and I want a girl to calm him down. I'm afraid if I get a boy they would be meaner.
I really don't think 2 ganders and 1 goose would work, someone is going to get left out. Others can give better advise on which gender I just know that ganders are awfully full of themselves during mating season but at other times of the year are pretty mellow, Iain Utah started out with 2 African ganders she maybe able to give you the gander side of it.I read a bunch of info on how to "train" them and assert dominance, so we are working on that part. I've been told by a lot of people that getting him a mate will calm him down. She seems a little either afraid of me or nervous sometimes. Like she will go in her house when I come out to the pen and get low to the floor and watch me. Other times she comes right out honking and flapping. She doesn't bite me or really even get mean with me, but she does with my boyfriend. She's calmed down A LOT in the last few days since she's been here. I guess I just need to decide on a male or female friend for her. If I get a pair, like a pair of buffs for example, would it be bad to have two boys and a girl?
That makes sense, ermer. Happy hunting!Seeing as how I don't have the best luck anyway, female it is then. This way I'll either have two girls or a pair. Best not to tempt fate. If I got a male and it hurt my Nelson I'm pretty sure that goose would end up in someone's freezer. I hate to say that, but I can't risk two males, especially if they fought. I'm too protective of my baby, but she does need a buddy
