Hello,
I have had chickens for over 30 years and I do just fine with my flock. I do have some hens that are starting to slow don on the laying and I have an experiment in mind. I would like to raise eggs with white yolks. I have seen and eaten these eggs in Tanzania. From what I hear the color come from the corn they eat.
I have read that chickens will eat uncooked rice. I want to separate my older hens and free feed them a diet of uncooked rice. They will still have room to walk around outside and all the bugs they can find. I am wondering what other supplements I need to give the chickens to compliment the uncooked rice. Organic is not my goal but I could head in that direction.
I also have a friend that gets migraines when she eats store bought eggs. If this works I would like to see if she could eat one of these.
Waddya think? Any suggestions? I am only thinking this thru before I make a move but I think it would be a neat experiment.
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
