Should I be worried about my girls freezing? I have a small flock of 5 RIR's and the temps are supposed to drop into the low 30's tonight. Will they be okay?

They will be fine. If you havent already and it will get colder soon I would invest in a water heater. Best thing ever!

My flock STARTED small...just 5 red stars. They were fine all winter. Not to worry, within a year or so you'll have doubled that amount anyway.

If in good feather and well fed, then I do not become concerned until temperatures drop below -10 F. First adjustments at that time are blocking direct wind and making certain birds go to roost with full crops. I just concern myself with blocking direct wind but tolerate / prefer some airflow.

If they are in a draft free, dry, well ventilated environment they can handle temperatures far lower than that.
