Just food and fun to them! The great thing is that we already fenced off many plants to protect them from the dogs -- chicken wire around the plant and the roots... and, in addition, Mississippi is so warm, there are some plants that just GROWWWWWW and GROWWWW.. and can actually keep up with 8 chickens! (Taros, lots of moisture loving plants)

They like taking dirt baths under the arborvitae - again - the roots are protected by wire - but there is a thick layer of mulch...
