So...six pullets at about seven weeks old in the coop. I had the heat lamp going in there at night until about a week ago when the weather warmed up. Replaced the heat bulb with a 15W CFL to use as a "beacon" to get them to come in at night.

Tonight, one decided to roost up in the light, resting on the "safety guard". Not just sitting there, but swinging back and forth as if she was headlining at the Tiki Room. She eventually fell out. Sorry for the crummy phone pics, but it was a target of opportunity.

That is all.

She's the star of the show!

On the serious side, you might want to ditch the lamp. They go to bed on their own when it starts getting dark.

I plan to remove the lamp once they realize they need to come in before it gets too dark. At this point, they just huddle in the corner of the run in the dark and chirp loudly until I either turn on the lamp or physically put them in the coop.

I'm sure they will figure it out eventually.

We had one of those in our first batch of chickens. She was known as "The Ninja Chicken" - not only could she escape any enclosure, she would do flying head kicks at the other chickens! Shes settled down a bit since she's now 2 1/2, but she's still got it when it counts....
