in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

REBEL there are two different types of pipes when using for water lines that you normally find in housing one is COPPER and the second is CPVC....which is more yellow and stronger then pvc...pvc will break super easy with freezing water...when you redo them all you have to do is put in new cpvc lines...add some heat tape to the areas where it could freeze and place the black foam around it...and it wont freeze...we had minus 37 here and the lines were fine...hope this helps...there is new water lines that are plastic red/blue you can find in stores but i believe those are expensive as well....hope you get it all figured out...

edited to add...plastic shouldnt be melted together...they are put together using the purple priming glue and then the orange cement glue

On that note , they have quick couplers now as well , done correctly no glue required etc . I believe the original intent with the CPVC is to allow curved and easier placement as well as cost , prices of copper has skyrocketed in recent years , also you don't get that rattle like some houses did when the improperly installed copper pipes touched the studs etc

I think that product is called pex here its easy to install ( I've done copper, PVC, abs that's for drainage if I remember and pex ) done right the quick couplers hold extremely well we installed it in the crawlspace of our 70-year-old rental house and we haven't had any problems... And it's seen -40C

Is he bringing his book out as a real book (you know what I mean) or just an ebook. I prefer something more tactile. There is nothing nicer than the smell and feel of books. I was always taught to wash my hands before reading and respect books. The thrill when I was young of finding an Enid Blyton that I didn't have was beyond measure. Going through a book list and downloading just doesn't do it for me
Here ya go.

He is also having an audio book made.

Reb,
Write anyway.
Google solved that problem for me.Spell check and grammar check are available.

Of course there are those times when my computer face palms itself and says I just need to find another word.

I think one of the reasons my son has done so well in English is because he can actually used the words he knows, he does not have to look up the spelling for each one.
When I was in school I had to write around my spelling problems and never got to use that impressive vocabulary I had acquired.

I was in college writing a biology lab report, and for the life of me I could not spell 'height.'
I could not find it in the dictionary.
I called my aunt and asked her.
I expected some *tisk-tisking*, but she understood completely.
Where did that ''E" come from anyway?
Sometimes the brain pathways get clogged up.

Write anyway.

I was trying to post simple but yes you are right.

My house has both PVC an CPVC. PVC will not hold up to hot water. Everyone down here runs PVC cold water lines an CPVC hot water lines. I assume they still use PVC so you know the cold water lines from the hot. I think what the water company puts in the ground is also thick walled PVC.

An we do use PVC primer an cement but those products don't work like regular glues Its not a bonding chemical, its a chemical melting agent. It chemically reacts with the plastic melting it. That makes any other plastic it touches while it is wet join it as one solid piece once it drys. It is also called plastic welding.

The colored lines is called PEX. Not cheep but easy to work with. I have not seen it used in houses down here but its the standard in RVs.

Yup , was lost for what we call it here , we have to have material for the cold climate here , most houses here are now done with the Pex pipe , very few use copper .I have done pex off of copper with the couplers and no issues

I got an infection in the left side of my brain as a newborn. It changed the way my brain developed. I can look at something mecanical an just know how it works. You can also tell me something you want to build an I can put togeather how to make it work in my head. But I can not memorize letter sequences. If it is not spelled how it sounds I will misspell it every time. It does not matter how many times I write that word or how many times I look it up... Also, being southern means a lot of words dont sound the way they are spelled when I say them.

Thats why I stick to youtube.

I use spell check for everything. I wont in this post to show what my writing looks like. Its hard to use on this site anyway. Spell check is a right click option an BYC blocks right clicking. You can bypass that block with control + right click but thats hard to do one handed. Thats one of the many reasons I dont post in the rest of the forum anymore.
