This is one of those "inflatable" pools in my back yard. Almost all of the water in it is rain that has collected during the last year. There is a thriving population of mosquitofish in it; the local tree frogs have found it to be a convenient nursery too. We have a few other water features in the yard that I toss mosquito dunks into to keep from adding to the pest problem. Our place used to be mosquito central; I sure don't miss that, but there are lots of other water loving critters that I like having around.

bunny, I would love to hear frogs/toads again. I used to hear them back in the 80's because we lived near a pond. And like you said, other critters that were around because of it.
Have to ask, what is mosquito dunks?

Mosquito dunks are made from a granule that contains a bacterium (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) that kills mosquito larvae. You can buy the granules themselves, but a dunk is a convenient form that slowly dissolves and needs replacing far less often. As far as I know, Bti is harmless to other kinds of aquatic life.

I see a giraffe, a tapir, an elephant, a gorilla, an Asian elephant, and a lion? Not in that order.
