HOPATCONG, N.J. — Talk about a creepy encounter. A cable guy in New Jersey stumbled upon a sleeping bear in the basement of a home where he was working.

The man said he was fixing a cable when he heard a growl.

“Didn’t know what it was,” said Dave Cornine. “I kept working, heard it a few more times, just kept on working then I flashed a light around and finally saw him. I ended up throwing my light, throwing my tools and ran out.”

Workers tranquilized the 500 pound bear and transported him to the Berkshire Valley Wildlife Management Area where it was released back into the wild.
