Quote: But in theory, isn't equality something to strive for, help not for just one gender, but all? It isn't fair that men are left to fend for themselves after abuse, and if they do try to find help, many are turned down for being 'weak'. Stories like that just break my heart. Violence against males is a very real thing, it just happens to go unreported often because society expects men to be strong and people assume that a man who has been domestically/sexually humiliated is either lying or physically incapable. Don't get me wrong now, women need help too, but I just feel like VAWA is going in the wrong direction with this whole equality thing. If we want to be truly equal in this nation, then we must get rid of the idea that women can't fend for themselves and that men are the big bad wolves, and instead accept each other as humans. Not separate entities.
Really? I had no idea; that's really fascinating. But unfortunate... I don't see how people can do such things to each other.
