Thanks for tracking it down. It says they are developing nasty rashes and inflammations on their skin.

It almost looks like mange ~ but they seem to think it is genetic

It's only affecting the females, so perhaps some sort of hormonal disease? I hope they get it figured out.

Is this the true meaning of "bear naked"?

Actually a bear in the wild will rub itself to this extreme ,might have had mites ? But they didn't shave this bear ,it just rubbed off it's winter coat for some relief from the summer heat ,it will have it's full coat by fall and be ready for the winter hibernation
