August 1968 my first litter of Cockers were born , of four pups, two became champions and a third one had points. The litter was so easy it practically raised itself. I thought I was darn good as a midwife.
Second litter born the next month - all heck broke loose. 3 pups - I died, the mother's milk was toxic. I tried feeding the other two with eye dropper and did it badly. Both got aspiration pneumonia
one had to be put down. The other, was raised by my wonderful vet and his assistant and ended up being one of the top breed winners in the south., and winning a Best (Local) in Show.
