in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

Quote: They tell that this is a wolfs, but this is only a running little dogs (wolfs are bigger!). They live everywhere - near of the marcets, shops... Usually this dogs never attack the people, they only catch a rats and eat an old food. For example in the Moscow near of every underground station are 3 or more dogs. I remember one time when i worked in Macdonalds in the Moscow (near of the place where are the trains), i finish my work at 12:00 PM but i go too slowly and the last train 00:50 AM was gone... And i was all the night in the street (fist train are in 05:00 AM). There was some dogs like that, 15 or 20 (there are the food-marcet and this dogs walk near of it). But this dogs are not agressive, they are too cowardly for to be agressive. In this video are very strange situation.Maybe it was a frost there or maybe this man used very strong cologne or perfume... Of course this is not good - when on the streets walk any "wild" dogs, but i travel by trains more as 20 years yet, always everywhere are the dogs like that and i was attacked only one time (when i meet one crazy dog, it beat my jeans!).

This is a russian road police, he are very armored and to run of any dogs... Maybe this is any joke? My futher have one friend in the road-police (he was our neighbour in the past time when we lived in another town), and we know the winter-uniform of this police. Very thick pants, and the armour for the terrorists (it can stop the bullet of a pistol), thick shoes... To beat this uniform is difficult for the dog... And always the policeman have the stick - where are the stick?? I think this is not a really policeman.

Pasha, your posts are always so interesting. I really enjoy hearing about life in Russia.

We have coyotes in the US. They look like small wolves and eat mice and small game (including peoples' pet cats

). Generally they are afraid of people, but in large packs, I would be more afraid of them. Do you think those dogs in the video could be coyotes (if you have them there)?

Pasha that is one special pink computer - very nice. I told my brother about you. He is a systems administrator - computer specialist .

He doesn't have any interest in chickens but, he liked hearing that you really are good with computers. You are a very interesting person with many talents. I'm so glad you joined Backyard Chickens so we get to know you.

I was system administrator 7 years, but after this i begin to work in Macdonalds (7 years with computers, computers... I wanted to change something. I had one interest to the company who sell any food - i need any practice in traiding and i worked there 6 months. I sell there a potato and another food, i no was the computer specialist there. But when the boss begin to use me for the computer - i runned from there and answer - no, i will not work width computers again!). After Macdonalds i begin to build my farm. I had some works as a hobby - for example i build some stoves of the bricks for me and for some of my neighbours, here is one (in my house):

Here are the photo of one office where i worked as computer specialist. I had 15 offices and near of 500 computers.

I had there very various job - i repaired all the computers (there was 15 offices where was 10 or 60 computers in every office, and 2-3 servers), connected the phones, worked width PBX Panasonic, build the servers of the date, and the servers of the turns, terminals... When we did not have a cartridges for a laser printers i used a toner. Sometimes here in the Rusia we have any problems width the money, and it is sheaper to use 3-4 kg toner for old cartridges as tu buy a new cartridges. A crazy day was in one town Ramenskoe (near of the Moscow) when i entered to there i received more as 100 empty cartriges... What can i do? I go to the computer market in the Moscow, build 5 kg of toner, sit in the office and begin my work width the cartridges. In the evening all the office (60 computers) had the cartridges ))) But i was very dirty after that, the girls who worked in the office tell me that i am a coal industry worker )))

It was fun some years, but it was too long time, now i have more interest to the work of a farmers.I live width my turkeys, ducks, geese and chicken, want tu buy one piglet, 3 goats and (maybe) some sheep. Of course i build here one smal computer net width my neigbours (i think i am an one farmer here who build computer nets width neighours haha), and i have here one little phone-net too (i used a very-very old PBX Panasonic VB-9250 and 16 phones). Sometimes this is very comfort - i have one phone in the place where live my ducks too, if anybody need to see me (i can work there) he can use a phone for find me. I don`t like mobil-phones.Of course the people from the offices know me, but now they have an another computer specialist, and i enter to there only if the people will have a very serious problems. Or sometimes i can enter for tea-drinking and for eat all the chocolate (the women of the offices often hide it in the tables, and i know that!).

And of course i used for my first incubator an old UPS, in the past time it used for the computer ))) Here is it:

I the Rusia i never have seen any coytes, we have here only any wolfs and foxes (but they live in the forest and never entered to the towns), but they no are koyotes. I remember 2000 year then we have any strange problem width the hares. I dont know why - but the hares was everywhere - of the fields, in the towns, in the capital (in Moscow!) near of the underground (!), everywhere. I never have seen some much hares. But in 1999-2000 year was a hurricane, much threes in the forests was broken... I thing the hares begin to eat the roots of a failed threes, and live under failed trees, get young hares (children). One time we moved in our old car and could not stop (the hares runned from anywhere too fast, we did not have enough time for stop, it was 1-2 seconds), one hare was killed. We taked it and gived to one neigbour, he used it in the kitchen, fried it width potato (in 2000 year i was young and did not know how to cock a hare, my mother tell that she will not cock a killed hare, because he are too scary - blood, bones...). In the 2000 year we have one funny russian car - Volga. Sometimes it named here "cow-car", because this car in the road where are the ice are like a cow, it moving anywhere and the driver never know to where ))). Now we use a jeeps, because a jeep is a good car for the farmer.

(a strange video width a strange farmer - why the cow are dirty, and why she walked on the ice road - i think the sand can be used for this road...)

That's what we have! Ours is a cricket.
The more flue pipe inside the house, the more heat you get though.
Also, our couch appears to be in the same place, you will want to get a reflective insulation board to slide between the couch and the stove. Ours is also in a corner. We put heat board behind the stove and surrounding the flue. It gets really hot.
But, you are a fireman so you know this stuff.

House use to have a vented gas heater here so the hole was preexisting. I just made it bigger. I would have probably made the pipe taller otherwise.

This is my first go at this. I have never had woods heat. Could not afford the wall thimble or floor an wall pads so I had to make my own...

Couch is an issue but I can move it away some more when using the heater. Couch will be bumped up to the blocks an heater most of the year though.

Used to heat our garage at home with one just like it back in the day worked real nice . Is that a
insulated port where your chimney exits the room ? Most insurance companies wouldn't insure you these days with that set up , worked fine back in the day , but these days ? But you'll love the heat .........wraps around you like a blanket !
