Collingwood is that a Salamander - ick slimy - if it's from Australia it must be poisonous

It is a salamander, it's either a Japanese or Chinese giant salamander. I don't think they are poisonous, in fact they are endangered because people eat them and dams block their way up stream where they spawn. Heres a pic of my pet salamander( not my pic but looks exactly the same)

I love salamanders, we had them in our swamp behind the house as a kid.........along with that dang giant snapper turtle.

Looking at it again, it does look like a hellbender. Although hellbenders look a lot like Japanese giant salamanders

Is that a cross between a Komodo Dragon and a salamander? I made the mistake of clicking on the photo to view it larger. It's hideous. I hope I don't have nightmares.
