Unless you are going bald, your hair will grow whether you use that or not.
very true.
The only way to get long hair that won't end up looking like a rat tail involves many things.

First the type of hair you have to begin with. Second nutrition is important, third not washing your hair every day, next do not brush style or wrap your wet hair up in a towel, next when sleeping use satin pillowcases, loose braids or hair covers, and avoid tossing and turning in your sleep.

Avoid heat styling. avoid chemical hair treatments like perms, dyes, and bleaches, avoid getting your hair wet with chlorine water like in a pool, keep your hair from whipping around in wind, this also avoids driving with the top down to your cars.

When brushing you have to start from the bottom and work up, being careful not to yank or break hair. trim split ends! This sometimes involving hunting through your hair to snip off any starting of a split end. Keep your ends well hydrated with a good moisturizer. drink lots of water.

Say good by to tight twist hairstyles! Do not wash your hair in hot water. Finish with a cold water rinse. Use good quality hair products that is right for your type of hair to avoid drying and breaking.

None of that will make your hair grow faster (except maybe good nutrition) but it will prevent breakage that is usually the cause of complaints about hair not growing long. These tips won't gaurante long glorious hair, though. If you have thyroid problems, certain illnesses, or just a certain type of hair that does poorly long, than it could all affect the length and beauty.

I know it sounds like a lot but i keep my hair to about my butt, and cut off 6 inches to a foot from my hair every 6 months to a year to keep from sitting on it. (any longer and I have also caught it on fire and caught it in fans, so i do not let it get any longer than that)

Also i have used mane and tail, and my hair did terribly with it while others did great with it.
