Boy one egg could feed a village. Just where do we find an elephant bird and the SOP ?

We won't be raising any of these in our backyard flocks...they went extinct in the 17th-18th century. Probably just as well, I wouldn't want to wrestle one of those if they were broody. On the plus side, they might not have been an attractant to predators (other than human).

Yep, they lived in Madagascar. Good thing they were flightless, lol.


Now this elephant bird, was not real (outside of Dr. Seuss' imagination):
