The only way I knew I was being chased was cause I heard the cop on the radio. I didn't even see him when I passed him. I figured the odds he was chasing another car on that road going that fast with no tail lights was slim so I stopped an waited on him. No ticket though.Your story of stopping for the cop reminds me of one my hubby has. He was driving a 1956 Chrysler..doing around 105, left town, didn't notice a cop behind him for a while. Looked in the mirror saw the red lights waaaay back there, and slowed down anyway! Pulled over. The cop said, I'm sure glad you stopped because I would not have caught you. He was leaving one little town going into the next. Hubby's dad was in the Sherrif's Patrol at the time..cop knew him. He did get a ticket though..for doing 60 in a 50.He did give him a bit of a speel..asked, what would you have done if a cow had stepped out in front of you. Hubby says he wasn't even thinking about anything like that happening. Of course not. :/![]()
The blue firebird, I was leaving a party one night about 2 AM, empty strait stretch of Alabama highway so I let her roll. Right as she shifted in to high gear (around 100mph) my headlights hit a horse standing broad side in the road. Locked it up an some how passed the horse in the left lane in a spin. I was skidding sideways strait at the horse an should have hit it in the middle of the passenger door at 60+ but the car kicked around the other way at the last second in to a spin missing the horse somehow. Not sure if that is what got me to straiten up but it was around that time I did...
