in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

My grandmother has to take insulin shots. For years she had it in her head that she needed to break the needles out of them before she threw them in the trash. Every now an then she would drop one. I of course would be the one to find it. Walking threw the house an bam, sharp pain in my foot. I look to see hair sized piece of silver sticking out of the bottom of my foot with a stream of blood shooting out the far end of it. The blood stream is bigger than the needle an easier to see so it looks like the blood appears out of nowhere...

I lost of how many times this happened before I got her to stop.

My brother used to do the same thing with his insulin needles - He was instructed to do that. Of course you hope they land in a wastebasket and not the floor. It was to keep" some" people from reusing them and to protect others from contact with them. I think the newer disposable needles he uses are safer to discard.

They are Diva. At least for me..mine are not for insulin though, they are Vitamin B12 shots. I just put the blue cap back on after giving the shot, then pull the whole thing out. Needle comes out in the blue cap. Then into the garbage it goes. I save the syringe part every now and again, works great giving vitamins and/or meds to chicks or dogs. :)
