in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

Great photos Cynthia. You are right, that water is soooo clear but, I still wouldn't drink it knowing that fish, and animals and stuff poo in it all the time - some of them probably kick off in the water too.

When we moved here just had well water and the NOT good builder skimped on everything. Water was so full of iron, it was orangey. If it sat in a class you'd see all the crud sink to the bottom. WE all took showers because didn't think we'd get clean sitting in a tub of rusty water. Ick.

We had the kennel then and all the dogs drank the water but, one - Squeejet would smell it first and back away. We ended up stocking up on water from a relative in Chicago, using a hose & washed out milk bottles. I've since read you really need a hose meant for drinkable water. Oh well. Anyway Squeejet approved of Chicago water.

A few years later we did get Chicago water which was great because our well water was so awful with minerals and junk that it kept ruining the pump. Someone told us much later that our well was dug deep enough. Other neighbors kept their well because they could water their grass for free. City slickers don't know that & the builder had a lot more surprises for us too. Outlet covers with no wiring behind them. Bathtub drain all clogged up with paint and other junk spilled down there. Window sills have would barely attached and couldn't support the weight of a paper clip.

Your house is very nice Pasha, looks like you have a lot of room.
X2 That's a huge house.

I'm from Canada. You're winter looks exactly like it does here. Kinda neat!

That's terrible!

Hopefully the proper karma makes it's way back around to the builder.

Our water softener/filter leaves us with clear water. If it doesn't go through the softener the water will leave an orange film if it's left to sit a while. No floaties though.
I remember when I was a child and we had a wooden cover on our well at home...once in a while they had to fish out a dead snake or rat...

I have here two wells. One is located directly under the kitchen, it can take about 500 liters of water per day, and the other dug recently, at the other end portion, on the other water vein. It is used for drinking bowls and watering the garden. There can take approximately 1000 liters per day. (If i take more water it will end and i will have to wait two-three days). it so happened that on my site are two different water veins.
Therefore, the water I usually do not have enough, and in the summer I always collect rainwater, use it for washing machine and for washing in the bathroom, and for the watering cucumbers, melons and other greenhouse plants. They need a warm water.

Here are my system. Unfonatelly, this old video are only in russian language, but i don`t tell anything interesting, it can be understood widthout any speaking )) Usually during rainstorms I type 2-3 tons of water (in the old video are only one capacity, now I have three).

Diva, yuck. You missed out.

My grandmother lived in VA. We would go visit her little farm area often. She had well water. Loved it! In fact, every time I mention it, I can almost taste it. It was good! She also had running water in the house, but the well water pump..red..was in a closed in big back porch area. It was nice and clear.

She didn't have a bathroom though. Now..that was no fun! Out house. Had to use those P-cans at night if really necessary.

We ended up moving there after a while, VA..in the city, with all of the normal necessities. :)

I'm trying to convince myself that I didn't read that about the well.
He he...you know, I never really thought it was that bad. I didn't know any different, even now the thought doesn't gross me out.

What does gross me out is thinking about all having to bath in the same water. We were like Pasha, two wells but very low on water.
Thank goodness I was the kid and got to bath first. Whew!

Like Cynthia's grandmother...we didn't have a bathroom until I was in Grade 4 or 5. It seems strange to say that, I mean...that was in the early 80s.

When I went for my Grandmother's care review at the care home...they conveyed a quick story about how Gran had a live mouse in her room and the head nurse went screaming out. They were surprised it didn't phase Grandma. I explained that when I was a small, we kept a hockey stick at the bottom of the basement stairs to kill the snakes we came across on the way to the freezer.
Yep, that got some interesting looks.

Consequently, I'm not afraid of snakes or mice...lol.
Cement went in about the same time as the bathroom and that solved the snake problem.
