Redwing Blackbird. Very common in the east and eastern Midwest. Although they are pretty they have become a pest in late summer and fall when they gather together in flocks of thousands and ravage the wheat and oat fields. I did say thousands. They seem to migrate to south eastern Pennsylvania by the hundred thousands, big black clouds of them. It reminded me of the stories I read about the passenger pigeons flying, going on for miles and miles.
