Life always finds a way.
If it means reproduction with whatever closely related species there happens to exist at the time, that's what they'll do, as it's better than going extinct. Life & DNA are pretty much wired to Exist, however possible.

This question was brought up & the thoughts were, just as selective breeding over time has created certain breeds with certain traits, attributes, colors, personalities, dominant genes, etc., if all of the selective breeds were just let loose to reproduce & multiply at will, the theory is that over time, the end result would be the same as what was originally started with. Various color and body style Fancy breed Pigeons would produce offspring & with every generation, the traits would gradually revert back to the original gray color Checkered or Blue Bar Rock Dove, and dog breed traits would eventually revert back to the wolf. That depends entirely upon the environment, too, as life automatically adjusts & evolves, ensuring survival, in whatever the current climate may be at the time. The changing features that the selective breeding created, may or may not revert...optimum survival & ability to thrive & sustain in the current environment is always 1st priority. That's why some creatures just die out, unable to adjust, evolve & refusing to relocate, survival of the fittest, in that particular setting.
I read an interesting article on this topic, explaining the theory much better than I can, but I can't find it right now & don't have time to Google for it. Makes sense, when you think about life forms found all over the world, in blazing hot volcanoes & freezing ice. Life certainly finds a way. Just curious as to what it would look like.
When it comes to chickens, I think the original Jungle Fowl are pretty awesome! I don't think I'd want to meet up with T-Rex though.View attachment 3308836View attachment 3308837
Well thought out, Wonderfully written!! Thankyou for your input & consideration!

So adorable!!!
I see feathered feet & top notches, but I'm not good at guessing possible breeds, as so many can produce similar looking chicks.

I've got a few that resembled yours as chicks, EE mixed with "something" as a few have top notches.
Only my Marans & Brahma hen have feathered legs or feet. Anyway, my top notch chicks are about 5 mos old now, laying various color eggs, ranging from blue to olive. What breeds are they? I don't really know, but I Love my friendly, sweet, surprise Hens & Roos. ❤️ They resembled yours so much as chicks, here are a few pics of them now.
(Hmmm, What breeds have top notches?)

It was really cool watching them grow, the little poof tops sprouted feathers. I wasn't sure what they'd look like but I'm pleased they still have their little hair doos, makes me laugh when they look up at me, it's just too cute! 🤭 I've never had any top notch birds, other than Cockatiels. I haven't had any of the adorable Polish chickens, but if I ever do get one I will have to name her Phyllis Diller. 😄

Keep us posted as they grow, yours are so cute & adorable! I wonder what their top notches will be...really poofy? Different colors? ❤️
