We didn't think TN got that much snow. Boy were we really welcomed. We took 5 years of the frozen sunshine:

Yes, it's a good place for goats. The forest is mostly deciduous, it has a lot of young trees and bushes, and there are clearings overgrown with nettles, wild raspberries, Ivan-chai grass (a tall tasty grass sometimes used by people as tea) and other plants. When I walk in the forest, I often bring home either wild raspberries or edible mushrooms. Still here sometimes there is a wild strawberry.
The terrain here is uneven, it is a hilly place, but the goats climb very well and this is not a problem for them.

These winter visitors used to take just one bite out of my grandfathers winter strawberries and then move on down the row repeating their fine dining. Strawberries put food on his table and pecked berries were worthless. Some of them didn't make it back north to breed. My northern cousins were sad but my grandfather and mother got to eat too.
