I was worried about that! It hadn't rained on a Rose Parade in I think 20 years. It's so hard on the marching bands. Everyone seemed to do okay, though.

The Rose Parade is part of my heritage. It's a southern California institution. I went and saw it many times as a girl - we had to get up at 3:00 A.M. to get a good viewing spot. Then in high school I marched in it. As an adult, I lived about two minutes from the parade route for a while. I was so proud to have Los Angeles - the city itself - as my address. My mother was a native Angeleno. I am one, too, by county, but she was born within the city limits.

Many of the Rose Parade floats are painstakingly put together by volunteer high school students. It becomes a kind of a social club, and community volunteering looks good on college applications.

You can usually view the floats for several days after the parade. They are astonishing up close.

Tiny gems find while fossicking- not sure what they are
Look like quartz crystals of sort. You can make jewelry pieces like charms, and necklace pendants from some.
Wondering how.
Here is what I use to make repairs to things with clear coating.
