Today is the 32nd anniversary of the M6.7 1994 Northridge earthquake. The strength of the shaking was the highest ever recorded in an urban area in North America. There were 13,000 aftershocks.

I had a very bad experience in this quake. It is the main reason I left my beloved birthplace and no longer live there. For all my complaints about southern Arizona, it is seismically quiet. When I go to sleep at night I know the walls and ceiling will still be in the same place when I wake up.
