in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

My DD#2 has been watching these eagles last year, all the way thru Young leaving the nest. I just saw a message from her,, that she is watching them again. Most likely same eagles as those you are watching.
Yes! That's Jackie & Shadow in Big Bear. :love They had three eggs last year so there might be another one coming.

My local Walmart sell worms in their sporting goods department. Ideal, if I want to get some bait to take grandchildren fishing at the local pond. Not too many bait shops in my vicinity. We just catch and release. ❤️
I think our Walmart sells bait worms. I've never seen vending machine worms, though.

There are several stocked lakes around here. They have catfish, trout, bass, sunfish and white amur. I haven't been fishing since I was a little girl; I should get back into it.

There aren't many worms in a desert so I don't know where the worms are sourced from. Worm farms, I guess? Maybe they'd make a nice treat for the chickens!

I have seen some vending machines outside of bait shops. For the folks that arrive after closing.
The fishing worms are usually the Nightcrawlers. Where there is a market, there will be suppliers.
Another option for bait, although less desirable,, are Red worms. They are small, and kind of difficult to set on a fishing hook. My son long ago did a science project that ended going to State Fair.
His project was titled. "WORMS EAT MY GARBAGE"
Pretty sure he received a Blue Ribbon.

On the subject of catch and release,,, I grind off the barbs on hooks, so there is no injury to the fish's mouth.

Also on the subject of catfish. Nothing outperforms bait-wise than Chicken Livers. Most supermarkets carry.

That’s so smart! I never thought of that.
My dad used to take us to the cow pasture to get worms for fishing. Just turn over a dry cow patty and voilà! Wormies!
