Hello, I was away on an internship and my mother was caring for my chickens. When I returned yesterday and I noticed one of my hens was waddling and looked over-weight. Today, she has worsened and I believe it was an inbound egg that has been stuck for a while to the point it spoiled and now it’s causing worms. She’s looks very weak and can barely keep her head up. She’s more than likely not going to make it to the morning, I’ve made her as comfortable as possible. She has an sister, who is seems to be perfectly healthy and who hasn’t left her side all day, until I separated them when I realized the problem. I don’t know what to do! Being as I’m a college student and will be away from home I would rather not get anymore chickens to keep her company, because I won’t be there to take care of them. She’s five years old leghorn. Can anyone advise me on how can I rehome her? Send links or numbers I can call. I live In Ellenwood, GA.

Sorry. Most people will tell you that you cannot keep one chicken by itself but I don't see any reason why you couldn't keep your one older bird by itself until she passes too unless you just didn't want to deal with her.

Well, I wouldn’t mind it, I just wouldn’t want her to be depressed and being that I won’t even be here to care for her myself, I just would rather ensure she’s being cared for properly. If I can’t find a new home, she still has a home here :)
