Amazingly these birds exhibited no physical defects, but had serious fertility problems, and had low hatchability. I used to hatch chicks for him and there were very low % hatches. His philosophy was, "If I raise any, they will be show winners." He was right.

Ah well I'm not concerned about fertility as long as they're healthy/happy themselves. Ha, my birds are far from show winners, more like messy spoilt brats

haha they're great aren't they, I devote 90% of my life making theirs nice and all I get in return is being chased down the garden by a massive sexually-frustrated drake!

I have an issue as well. Half of the people say not to, and half of the people say it's fine for full-siblings, I figure that it's fine anyway, but I wanted to know if is ok for half-siblings. I have two females and one male. The male just recently hit sexual maturity, and has been trying to mate with my hens. I have two hens that are his half-siblings. I have enough space and everything, but I was wondering if I should separate them, or let them breed. I'd welcome more babies, but I don't want anything wrong with them. (I don't think that the two Pygmies will mate with them, so I didn't mention them prior. However, that's another question. There's a male and female Pygmy. Will they mate with the big ones?)
